Journal Scoms: Studies in Communication Sciences

The journal «Studies in Communication Sciences» (SComS) was founded in 2001. Since 2007, SComS has been jointly edited by the Swiss Association of Communication and Media Studies (SACM) and the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society of the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI Lugano). The journal publishes articles in English, German, French, and Italian. Thereby, SComS represents the multilingualism in Switzerland and offers a forum for international communication and media research. Submissions are evaluated by two reviewers in a double-blind peer review process.

Since 2017, SComS is a platinum open access journal published on the HOPE platform of the University of Zurich. In addition, printed editions of SComS are distributed by the Swiss publishing house Seismo.

The SComS website does not only provide free access to the current issues, but also to previous issues published in the predecessor journals «Medienwissenschaft Schweiz» (1991 to 2006) and «Bulletin: Kommunikationswissenschaft» (1975 to 1990). This is made possible by E-Periodica, a platform of the ETH Zurich library for digitized Swiss journals.
